Nineteen Sixty-One

This is one of those infamous gigs, like when the Beatles played on a roof or when Dylan went electric. In 1977, Pink Floyd were promoting their last issue, Animals, in gigantic stadiums, with a restless and noisy audience. So one night in Montréal, after having tried to play the acoustic “Pigs on the Wing”, Roger Waters went nuts and began to insult his fans. Later, during “Pigs (Three Different Ones)”, a spectator tried to jump on the stage, and Waters spat on him. This well-known event led him to write his most successful album, The Wall. So, here is “Pigs” from that gig. It’s impossible to tell when Waters spits, but, well, this version is so electric and harsh that in fact, it doesn’t matter at all.
